YOUTHINK
We know one of the most important components of a successful after school program is understanding our students and engaging their interests. Schools vary from community to community as do the trends and interests of our youth. In order to recruit students, maintain attendance, engage and empower youth, we must first understand youth culture to truly make an impact.
The YOUTHINK Study is a 6-part process including, but not limited to:
1. YOUTHINK Survey and Summary of Findings
2. Follow up Focus Group and Interviews
3. Program Design Team
4. Professional Development
5. Program Implementation
6. Program Evaluation and Quality Assessment
BOOST has developed YOUTHINK, an all-inclusive student interest survey to help out-of-school time programs determine who our youth are, who their friends are, the culture of the school, who attends the after school program, who doesn’t and why. The unique results help us better understand how to reach youth in the out-of-school time hours in a customized and significant way.
Upon evaluation of the YOUTHINK survey results, the BOOST team will conduct a focus group of pre-selected students followed by meetings with key stakeholders and school administrators. We will collaborate to determine a successful program plan, and design and implement key next steps. Our team will work with you to determine an annual Professional Development Plan for all levels of program staff, and assist in the coordination of community partners as part of the integrated process.
The YOUTHINK Study for quality programming and on-going program improvement is:
- To assess, plan, design and execute strategies for on-going program improvement
- To address specific goals and activities of each program
- To identify areas for technical assistance
